If you're reading this, you're either looking for more information about this boy, or you're specifically wondering why he's suddenly got a name.
Allow me to explain. In a pre-release interview, the director gave us quite the lore dump. First and foremost, he revealed that the Medicine Seller in Karakasa doesn't just look different, but is different. The Medicine Seller from Ayakashi and Mononoke and the Medicine Seller in Karakasa are two different people.
Not only are they two different people, they are also a part of a system that takes many notes from Taoism's concept of hexagrams and trigrams.
So why the name Kon? Karakasa's Medicine Seller wields the sword aligned with the trigram Kon. While the medicine seller of the anime wields the sword aligned with the trigram Ri. Since the fandom still doesn't have proper names for the medicine sellers, the JPN side of the fandom has started differentiating the two by calling them by their swords' trigrams, which the western side has adopted.
tl;dr: The Medicine Sellers aren't the same guy, the series' lore is based off of Taoism and fandom has nicknamed the Medicine Sellers after the swords they carry.

OOC Perms
- Backtagging: All good, I keep odd hours so expect some backtagging from me.
- Threadjacking: Unless otherwise discussed, no please.
- Fourthwalling: Outside of memes related to it, also no.
- Opt Out: Here
IC Perms
- Affectionate Physical Contact (hugging, headpats, etc.): Go right ahead. Kon is a very tactile boy so expect reciprocation.
- Kissing: Ask first
- Flirting: Yes. One of his first interactions with another character in Karakasa is to offer a love potion in a rather seductive tone so expect him to either flirt first or flirt right back.
- Romance: Unless you're another Medicine Seller or his Other Self, maybe.
- Smut: Outside of smut memes this is another maybe.
- Fighting, Violence, etc: Give me ooc warning first, but otherwise yes. If fighting a human, he's going to go for defending rather than actually fighting back.
- Killing: No thank you.
- Mind Reading: Do this at your own risk, his mind is either racing with many thoughts or preternaturally still.
